Meredith Taylor, RN, JD

"Every case is unique, every client's story matters. My goal is not just to win cases, but to help my clients find healing and closure in the face of medical negligence."

Nurse, Attorney, and Advocate for Justice

Meredith Taylor is both a registered nurse and an attorney with over 30 years of legal experience. Admitted to practice in State and Federal Courts across Oklahoma, she focuses on medical malpractice cases, leveraging her extensive medical background alongside her legal expertise.

Meredith has successfully represented clients in cases involving both small community hospitals and major institutions like Integris Baptist, Mercy, and OU Health. Her compassionate approach, combined with her thorough understanding of both the medical and legal systems, ensures that her clients are not only heard but also fiercely advocated for in their pursuit of justice.

My Approach: Bridging Medicine and Law

As a nurse attorney, I bring a unique perspective to medical malpractice cases. My years of hands-on nursing experience allow me to understand the nuances of each case in a way that few attorneys can. I don't just see legal arguments; I see the human stories behind them.

But more than my areas of focus, it's my approach that sets me apart. I believe in:

  • Building strong, personal relationships with my clients

  • Explaining complex medical and legal concepts in understandable terms

  • Advocating fiercely for justice while never losing sight of the human element

  • Collaborating with a network of respected trial attorneys to provide comprehensive representation

Beyond the Courtroom

While my work as a nurse attorney is deeply fulfilling, it's just one facet of who I am. In my free time, I can be found at the YMCA, cooking great food, spending time with family and my granddaughters, and enjoying college football. These activities keep me balanced and grounded, reinforcing the values of health, community, and personal growth that I bring to my work every day.

  • Early Career: Nursing at Children's Hospital
After earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma, I began my career at Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City. Those early years taught me the importance of attention to detail and the profound impact that quality care can have on a patient's life.
  • Expanding Horizons: Texas Children's Hospital
My quest for knowledge and experience led me to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. Here, I was at the forefront of breakthroughs in maternal and neonatal care. The complex cases I encountered here would later prove invaluable in my legal career.
  • Sharing Knowledge: Teaching Nursing
With a Master of Science in Nursing under my belt, I spent three years teaching in Houston. This experience honed my ability to explain complex medical concepts in understandable terms - a skill that serves me well in the courtroom today.
  • Back to Roots: OU College of Nursing
Returning to my alma mater as an Associate Professor was a homecoming in more ways than one. Supervising nursing students in Obstetrics and Pediatrics allowed me to shape the next generation of caregivers while deepening my own expertise.
  • The Turning Point: From Nurse to Legal Advocate
My role as chair of the Maternal-Child Division of the Oklahoma Nursing Association led to an unexpected opportunity: serving as a nurse expert witness in a medical malpractice case. This experience opened my eyes to a new way of advocating for patients and their families.
  • A New Chapter: Embracing Law
Inspired by my experience as an expert witness, I made the bold decision to attend law school later in my career. Graduating from the OU College of Law wasn't easy, but it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, allowing me to blend my medical knowledge with legal advocacy.
